Operating systems and licensing

Windows Server licensing, billed monthly

Standard +$18.0/month; Datacenter +$34.1/month.

The license is added to a dedicated server order as an operating system option; it is not sold as a standalone software product.

Six edition combinations across three system languages

The AmdMetal Windows Server catalogue is organised by release year and license edition. Check which release is supported by the required business software, then choose Standard or Datacenter. Select the system language in the configurator.

Available Windows Server options
License edition Release year System language Monthly license add-on
Standard 2019 / 2022 / 2025 English / Traditional Chinese / Simplified Chinese +$18.0/month
Datacenter 2019 / 2022 / 2025 English / Traditional Chinese / Simplified Chinese +$34.1/month

The prices shown are operating system license add-ons, not dedicated server rental fees. Check compatibility against the exact version of each business application; a newer release does not guarantee that existing applications, drivers or plugins can be migrated without changes.

Choose an edition to suit your deployment

The two license editions support different deployment approaches and do not change the base specifications of the AMD EPYC 7543P dedicated server. Consider whether workloads will run together or whether multiple Hyper-V virtual machines are needed on the host.

Standard: run a set of workloads together

Suitable for deployments centred on a single business environment, such as an ERP application, reporting service or ecommerce back office. Application components can run together on one system, reducing the networking and resource allocation work involved in managing multiple virtual machines.

Before choosing, check the required Windows Server release, memory usage and dependencies for each application. Verify software licensing and compatibility requirements separately; the operating system version alone is not enough to determine suitability.

Operating system license add-on +$18.0/month

Datacenter: plan for multiple Hyper-V VMs

Suitable for running multiple Hyper-V virtual machines on a 32-core, 64-thread dedicated server, with applications, test environments or separate business components managed independently. Plan memory, storage and networking for each VM based on its actual workload.

The server's resources are shared; each VM cannot use the full resources of the server at the same time. Before configuring the system, total the memory requirements of all instances and reserve resources for the host. Choose a memory tier based on workload, not just the number of VMs.

Operating system license add-on +$34.1/month

Dedicated servers are available with 128GB or 256GB DDR4-3200 ECC memory. Memory cannot be upgraded on the existing server after provisioning; changing tiers requires a new order. See the rental pricing page for complete AmdMetal server prices.

Add the license to the monthly total, then multiply by the billing period

AmdMetal lists the server, additional storage, bandwidth, extra IPv4 addresses and Windows license as separate line items. When Windows is selected, its monthly license fee is added to the monthly total, which is then multiplied by the number of months in the selected billing period.

Monthly total = server monthly price + storage add-ons + bandwidth surcharge + extra IPv4 addresses + Windows license

Amount due = monthly total × number of months. Monthly billing covers 1 month, quarterly billing 3 months, semi-annual billing 6 months and annual billing 12 months. There is no discount for any of the four billing periods.

These amounts cover the license only; the server and any other add-ons are charged separately. All prices are in US dollars. There is no setup fee or contract. Payment is settled in USD, using the methods listed in the configurator before checkout.

Use the first IPv4 address for RDP access

After payment and provisioning, find the connection address and login credentials in the machine details in the AmdMetal control panel. Real credentials are not displayed on public pages, and no username or connection port is assumed; use the details shown for the provisioned server.

  1. 01

    Check the server details

Sign in to the control panel, find the server linked to the order and check its system information to obtain the connection address and login credentials. Copy the complete details, and do not include passwords in public screenshots or support ticket attachments.

  2. 02

    Connect using Remote Desktop

Enter the first IPv4 address shown in the control panel in a Remote Desktop client, then sign in with the credentials provided. The system language is the English, Traditional Chinese or Simplified Chinese option selected with the order.

  3. 03

Verify the system and access rules

After the first login, check the release year, license edition and language before deploying workloads. Before changing firewall or network adapter settings, make sure the existing RDP connection will remain accessible and keep a record of the changes.

If the connection fails, submit a support ticket through the control panel with the server ID, client error and any network changes already made. Redact passwords and other sensitive information from screenshots. Avoid repeated changes that could make troubleshooting harder.

Deploy business applications and back-office services

The Tokyo, Japan data centre is suited to Windows workloads serving users in Japan and the Asia-Pacific region. Plan resources according to database size, concurrent connections, disk writes and service-to-service traffic; location alone does not determine application performance.

ERP and business applications

Include the application services and required components in the deployment plan, and check the runtime environment, Windows Server release and vendor support requirements. Validate business workflows and data recovery procedures before migration.

Reporting and batch processing

Account separately for interactive queries and batch report generation when planning resources. Schedule concurrency and job order, and include the operating system, application processes and data cache in the memory budget.

SQL Server workloads

Plan memory, log storage and backup locations according to data volume and access patterns. A Windows system license does not include a SQL Server license or licenses for other business software.

Cross-border ecommerce back office

Organise back-office systems, APIs and callback services by business function, and document the address and bindings for each site. Dedicated IPv4 addresses are for address assignment; they do not replace account permissions or application access controls.

The two 1TB NVMe drives are directly attached and are not configured with hardware RAID or a pre-set RAID-1 array. Customers are responsible for arranging redundancy within Windows, backing up business data and testing recovery procedures.

Assign extra addresses individually; keep the management address unchanged

Each AmdMetal dedicated server includes 1 dedicated IPv4 address, with up to 255 additional addresses for a maximum of 256. Each extra address costs $1.7/month and is added to the monthly total according to the quantity selected. For example, 3 extra addresses cost $5.1/month in total.

Adding addresses in Windows network adapter settings

First check the delivered address details in the control panel, then add each extra address in the IPv4 advanced settings for the relevant network adapter. Use the delivered network details for the subnet mask, gateway and other parameters; do not reuse another server's configuration.

After binding the addresses in Windows, configure the listening address for each site or service and check the firewall rules. Record the purpose of each address to avoid assigning the same address to multiple applications. Multiple public IP addresses do not automatically isolate services.

Use the first IPv4 address for RDP management at all times; the remaining addresses are for sites, virtual machines or services. Check network adapter changes step by step and verify connectivity rather than relying on a single bulk change.

Add Windows to a dedicated server order

In the AmdMetal configurator, choose the server, storage add-ons, bandwidth and number of IPv4 addresses, then select the Windows Server release, license edition, system language and billing period. Review the order details before payment. The control panel shows the current provisioning status.

DGX Spark does not support Windows. See the product information in the AmdMetal DGX Spark overview.
