Tokyo data centre · Japan

A Tokyo base for APAC workloads

The data centre is in Tokyo, Japan. Storefronts, ad landing pages, and payment callbacks serving users in Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia can run on the same dedicated server.

The location of an application's entry point is part of the deployment decision. Planning the application, database connections, and callback handling together makes request paths easier to manage than moving static pages alone. Actual performance depends on user networks, carrier routing, and application processing; an illustrative route is not a substitute for latency measurements.

Dedicated IPs · assigned individually

Up to 256 dedicated IPv4 addresses per server

Each server includes 1 dedicated IPv4 address and supports up to 255 additional addresses, for a total of 256. Each additional address costs $1.7/month and is billed individually by the month.

Storefronts, content sites, and VMs can each be assigned an address for their own services, instead of sharing a single entry point. Plan address and workload counts separately. After adding an IPv4 address, configure the network interface, service listeners, and firewall in the operating system.

Windows Server

Windows Server licensing, billed monthly

Standard and Datacenter are available, each in versions 2019, 2022, and 2025. System languages are English, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese. Remote access is via RDP.

Standard suits a single business instance, while Datacenter is intended for deployments with multiple Hyper-V virtual machines. Check application compatibility and licensing requirements when choosing a version. An operating system licence does not include licences for business software.

Workloads and deployment

Deployment patterns for four common workloads

The same AMD EPYC 7543P can support different workloads through how addresses, memory, and the OS are configured. The customer manages resource allocation on the server.

Proxmox host

AMD-V and NPT support virtualisation and nested virtualisation workloads. Assign additional IPv4 addresses to VMs as planned, giving each VM its own public address. Manage the host through the first address and keep workload addresses separate from the management endpoint.

Proxmox VE 8 / 9

Databases and middleware

With 256GB ECC memory, PostgreSQL buffer pools and Redis in-memory data can run alongside data directories and logs on directly attached NVMe storage. Memory planning must also account for the OS, connections, and other processes; not all server memory is available as a database cache.

256GB ECC

Cross-border commerce

Storefronts, ad landing pages, and payment callbacks can run from the Tokyo data centre, with a dedicated IPv4 address assigned to each site. Separate addresses still require per-site management of DNS, certificates, service listeners, and firewall rules; a separate IP is not a separate system.

Dedicated IPv4 per site

Windows workloads

Windows Server Datacenter supports ERP, reporting services, and multiple application instances, managed over RDP. Check software requirements before deployment. Application licensing and data backups are managed by the customer; Windows licence fees are itemised in the monthly total.

Storage and data responsibility

Two directly attached NVMe drives; redundancy is customer-managed

The two 1TB NVMe drives are each directly attached. There is no hardware RAID, and the drives are not configured as RAID-1. Software RAID, ZFS mirroring, and off-site backups must be planned and implemented separately.

The two included drives provide 2TB of raw capacity. Formatting, filesystem metadata, and redundancy choices affect usable space. Mirroring two 1TB drives does not provide the combined capacity of both drives, and a mirror is not a substitute for an independent backup.

AmdMetal manages the hardware and network; the customer manages the OS, applications, and data. Database backups, restore testing, and off-site copies should be part of operational planning before workloads go live, not added only after accidental deletion or file corruption.

FAQ

Key details to confirm before ordering

Confirm the address count, memory configuration, and access method first. Available options and itemised pricing are listed on the AmdMetal pricing page; current service status is shown in the control panel.

IPv4 limits and pricing

Each server includes 1 dedicated IPv4 address and supports up to 255 additional addresses, for a total of 256. Each additional address costs $1.7/month and is billed individually by the month. The quantity is selected on the AmdMetal configuration page.

Which address is used for connections?

SSH and RDP connections use the first address only. Additional addresses must be assigned within the operating system to websites, virtual machines, or services. Adding addresses does not configure applications or network bindings.

Can the memory configuration be changed?

The 128GB and 256GB configurations cannot be upgraded on the same server after provisioning. Changing configurations requires ordering another server and arranging the migration of applications and data. Backups of the original server must also be retained separately.

Billing periods and contracts

AmdMetal offers four billing periods: monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual. All are undiscounted, with no setup fee or contract. Billing is in USD; available payment methods are listed on the configuration page.

How to connect to Linux and Windows

Linux, FreeBSD, and Proxmox VE use SSH; Windows Server uses RDP. After payment and provisioning, connection details and login credentials are available in the server details in the AmdMetal control panel.
